Earlier this year, we had an entire pallet of playing cards stolen? Misplaced? Lost? We're not really sure how they suddenly went missing from the shipping carrier. All we know is we had over 42 boxes of VHS just that disappeared from transit. We immediately put in an entire new order for a reprint, and slowly we began to see random 1982 VHS decks start to show up on Ebay and Facebook Marketplace. This infuriated us, that the decks we worked so hard to produce, that we had been waiting so long to receive, ended up basically on the black market. While the black market release was not vast, we were able to negotiate with a couple of sellers to repurchase the decks from them (again). It's the first time we've ever paid for our decks twice.
The biggest thing we wanted to do was to get these decks off the secondary market, decks that we have not even physically seen. In the end, we were only able to negotiate the acquisition of a few cases of VHS 1982.So we wanted to turn an extremely frustrating negative experience into a positive one for you, our dedicated patron. We've decided to release this small allotment of decks to the public. Each of these decks is factory sealed, with an additional "Contraband" seal. We were able to get around 100 VCR Editions, 50 Gilded (non-VCR), and 50 Standard Editions. We have an equal number of each variant for both the Standard and Gilded, but we will not be releasing them individually. This means that if you purchase a Standard Contraband deck, you may receive any one of the three versions. However, if you buy more than one, we will try our best to fulfill various versions for your order. As for the VCR Edition, all 100 are the Green "State Champs" version.
