The Count of Monte Cristo
The Count of Monte Cristo is an adventure novel written by French author Alexandre Dumas completed in 1844. The story takes place in France, Italy, and islands in the Mediterranean and centers on a man, Edmond Dantès who is falsely accused of treason, arrested and imprisoned in the Château d'lf, a grim fortress off the coast of Marseille.
The story tells of Edmond escape from imprisonment, his acquisition of a fortune, and his revenge on those responsible for his demise.
